Thursday we started the day at the Shedd Aquarium, unfortunately they had a large section closed for remodeling but we got a chance to walk around and check out various stuff that they did have open. We only hung out for about an hour or so before walking down the boardwalk and pier to get to the Solder Field tour. Oh....and we found Nemo!
Even though the Bears were on a bye week, we decided to do a stadium tour similar to what we did in Green Bay. The tour started off talking about when the stadium was built and renamed, then we watched a video talking about the history and all the events held over the 100+ years since it was originally built. We walked on the visitors side of the field and got to check out the visitors locker room before going up to the suites. Apparently NO ONE is allowed in the Bears locker room. Since the 80's - Bears House, Bears Rules, no one but Bears staff in the home locker room, EVER!
After the Soldier Field tour we walked to the Field Museum, by the time we got there my feet were killing me so we didn't walk through every exhibit but saw more than enough to get our moneys worth. The large life-like T-Rex was pretty cool, the main skeleton was not on display but they had replica with skin on it to show. The other dinosaur skeletons were there and some of them were huge.
For those 90's sitcom fans you might recognize the fountain, for those who were not, this was the fountain shown in the opening credits of Married With Children. We took a ride on a bike cart from Field Museum to the fountain to try and save my feet from the mile walk.
After the fountain we walked to the Cloud Gate.....essentially a giant metal bean.....no clue why it was built but we walked to it anyhow. After that we walked to a restaurant to eat and give my feet some time to rest before walking back to the train station.
Monday Megan and I did a little bar hopping so I could try some local breweries and get some beer to bring home. Wednesday after we left Starved Rock we dove down to Champagne IL to visit my youngest cousin Tori who I haven't seen in 10 years and her boyfriend John, we all had dinner and then hit up a local bar to have some drinks and catch up. Along the way we took photos of all the fall colors, something we don't see much of in AZ.
